My Approach

I like to tell my clients to think of me as their proverbial GPS.  You tell me where you want to go and I help you get there. Or, if you prefer old school maps, think of me as riding shotgun, holding a map and telling you which exit to get off.  It's not my job to change the destination.  I'm just there to show you the way. Or, help you "recalculate" when we miss a turn.

Just like a GPS, there are a variety of ways to get where you want to go.  I tailor each person's therapeutic experience to match their goals, values and personality.   That's why I draw from a variety of modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused, Positive Psychology, and psychoanalysis. 

In addition to the proven therapeutic techniques I use, I want our time together to offer you a sense of apricity: that feeling of absorbing the warmth of the sun on a cold day. Therapy is a place for you to feel comfortable enough to allow the genuine truth of your circumstance to be said out loud free of judgment and criticism.  Then, we can identify and release those mental "brakes" that are preventing you from moving full speed towards the life you want.
